JAKARTA: The city administration has announced it will raise the minimum monthly wage next year by 9.95 percent.

This brings it to Rp 900,560 from the existing Rp 819,199.

Governor Sutiyoso said the increase had been discussed at a meeting with worker and business representatives last month.

"I hope all parties accept the decision," Sutiyoso said Friday.

The local administration set the provincial minimum wage based on economic growth and inflation projections.

It used an economic growth projection of 6.6 percent and an inflation projection of 7 percent. --JP
