House Speaker calls for transparency in Cepu Block production sharing

Bojonegoro (ANTARA News) - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Agung Laksono said here on Thursday he was hoping that when the Cepu Block oil and gas fields have come on stream, production sharing between the central government, regional administrations and contractors in the exploitation can be carried out transparently.

"In many instances, production sharing deals have been shrouded in darkness. How much was produced and cost recovery remained unclear," he said when visiting the Al Rosyid Islamic boarding school in Ngumpakdalem in Bojonegoro, East Java.

He said the DPR had also called on the government to boost oil production.

Agung said Indonesia`s oil production had dropped from 1.4 million barrels to only 700,000 barrels per day, and therefore Indonesia which used to be an oil exporter had become an oil importer.

He said he hoped the Cepu Block oil field could help increase Indonesia`s oil production.(*)
